Ragnarok Litters

We are so excited to share that we are expecting our first bred by litter in early October!

Ori is confirmed pregnant! The vet saw at least 3 embryos on the ultrasound, all of which were viable but there could be at least 5!

This litter is due around October 10.

My waitlist is still open! Serious inquiries only, experienced homes preferred, show/sport homes will be priority.

If you're interested, please fill out an application on our "Apply Now" page.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions. This will be Ori's one and only litter.

Why did I choose Odin as the stud dog?

I can say it wasn't purely on convenience alone. This was something I had carefully considered for a couple years now. With the guidance and approval from my breeder (who co owns Ori with me) it seemed like a no brainer. Odin has been bred once before and those puppies came out beautifully which showed me that Odin produces well. I wanted to be sure about their health testing before allowing Odin to be bred again as well. Odin has a lot to offer even though he is not a top winning show dog or even a popular stud dog. That part didn't matter to me because just because a dog does well in the ring, does not mean they are necessarily best for the breed.

So what could Odin improve on Ori?

Odin has a solid front assembly which is something Ori could use a bit of improvement on herself. She is slightly upright in her shoulders but she is still functional. I do prefer Odin's head type a bit more than Ori's, although there isn't anything wrong with her head and is still within standard. Odin does have more bone than Ori which is something I personally believe she is lacking in just a bit. She could also use a bit more length in her back which I believe Odin could improve on. Odin is also clear from polymyositis (WW) and Ori is a mutant (MM) so she needed somebody who was clear. Odin and Ori are not closely related except for 4 generations back.

There are obviously things Ori could improve on with Odin as well. He is a little "easty westy" and has a steeper croup so I am hopeful Ori could fix that. Odin's eyes are also more round than almond shaped (the standard calls for almond shaped eyes) and his ears are a tad bit too small. Odin's rear could also use some improving as well.

It's important to remember that no dog is perfect and that as breeders, we do our best to breed according to the breed standard as best as we possibly can. There's never any guarantees and no dog will be an absolute perfect example of the standard, but we breed as close as we can.
